Dr. Robert Winburn


Robert Winburn has served as pastor of Spring Valley since 1989. After graduating from Wofford College, he went on to complete his Master of Divinity degree and his Doctor of Ministry degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. His passion in ministry is preaching and teaching to see lives transformed by the power of the gospel.

Robert has served in various leadership positions at both the state and associational levels. Besides spending time with his family, he enjoys hunting, golf, and reading. 

Robert and his wife Cookie have been married since 1975. She teaches a Bible study class on Sundays, Life Class on Wednesday nights, and joins Robert in counseling engaged couples as they prepare for marriage. They have four married children who are all in the ministry and twelve grandchildren.

Dr. Rick McCollum

Minister of Music & Worship

Rick McCollum has served as Minister of Music and Worship of Spring Valley since 1995. He has a B.A from the University of South Carolina, M.A. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, M.A. from Louisiana Baptist University and D. Min. from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary. 

His passion in ministry is to activate and mobilize the gifted to ministry. You may hear him ask, "do you sing or play an instrument?"

Rick enjoys spending time with his wife Christi, working in his home studio and eating ice cream.

Rev. Brian Fillingim

Minister of Discipleship

Brian Fillingim has served as Minister of Discipleship since May 1, 2018. He graduated from Kennesaw State University with a BA in Business Management and went on to earn his Master of Divinity with a Specialization in Christian Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Brian’s passion in ministry is small group discipleship, equipping the saints for the work of ministry and reaching the lost with the life changing message of the gospel.

Brian and his wife Kelli married in May of 2014 and are the proud parents of Ellis and Edie Ann. Brian enjoys playing with his kids, dates with his wife and family walks in the evening. When he is not spending time with family his enjoys hunting and fishing.


Mrs. Allyson Kelly Horton

Children's Ministry Director

Allyson Kelly Horton has been our Children's Ministry director since 2005. She graduated in 1987 with a BA degree in Physical Education from Columbia College and then attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, receiving a MA in Religious Education in 1991. 

Allyson's favorite thing about ministry is leading children to a relationship  Christ and watching grow in their faith. Although she has no kids of her own, she loves that she gets "paid to play" with the terrific kids at SVBC. 

Allyson and her husband Mike have two fur-babies, Pearl & Bleau. For fun they like to attend Clemson games and travel.

Rev. Zach Masdon

Minister of Students

Zach Masdon began serving at Spring Valley as Minister to Students in August of 2017. Zach is married to Karalee, and they are proud and exhausted parents to Carson and Sophia. Zach and Karalee met while studying at North Greenville University. Zach earned a BA in Christian Studies at NGU and a Master's of Christian Ministry from the North Greenville University Graduate School of Christian Ministry.

Zach's calling is to equip families in the task of daily discipleship, and to lead students to experience the transforming power of the Gospel in their lives.

Zach enjoys pitching batting practice to Carson and playing pretend with Sophie. He also enjoys playing golf, hiking, traveling, reading, and watching almost any sporting event. Unlike most youth pastors, Zach does not often drink coffee, but he does enjoy playing guitar and ping pong!
