SVBC Kids: Age Birth-Elementary School

The children's ministry team at Spring Valley Baptist Church loves children! We consider it a privilege from God to share Biblical instruction and love with your child. We partner with parents to lead children to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ that is centered around learning and living God's Word.

These are critical years as you lay the foundation for your child's future. We want to help you learn how Christian parents raise children in the ways of Jesus Christ. It is our prayer that, like Jesus, your child will grow in wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52).

In Christ,

Allyson Kelly Horton, Children's Ministry Director

Sunday Mornings

Preschoolers During Worship (9:30 am)

During Worship time we offer Extended Teaching Care for Infants through Kindergarten. During this time, children will encounter a worship time in our Rainbow Room with songs and video that highlights the lesson for the day. They will also have playtime in appropriate age groups and will be given a snack.

During our LifeGroup time, our wonderful teachers provide loving care as they teach the Bible story and provide hands-on activities that relate to the day’s lesson. Each worker is approved with background checks and has many years of experience in guiding our little ones.

Kids During Life group time (10:45 am)

At SVBC, we believe families should worship together. As your child enters elementary school, you will find an increased interest in God, Jesus, and church. This is the right time to begin training your child for worship service participation. Family worship time on Sunday morning lays the foundation for your family devotions at home.

For the younger children, worship bags are provided upon request at the welcome table. Older children are encouraged to take notes following the outline provided by Pastor Blake. All children are encouraged to bring their Bibles every Sunday!

Rally Room begins during LifeGroup time in the upstairs children’s area with a large group worship time of Music, fellowship, and Bible Study. Small group time follows with grade-appropriate activities to discuss our lesson and do hands-on activities.

Security

The Ark Atrium is where sign in takes place for both ages groups. Our children’s and preschool areas are secured on Sunday mornings. Only SVBC volunteers and staff who have been background checked, along with parents/guardians dropping off or picking up children are admitted to the children’s areas. Parents and guardians must present a security tag to enter the hallway to pick up a child.

If you have any questions prior to your visit or a special situation or concerns with your children, please do not hesitate to call the church office to speak with our Children's Ministry Director, Allyson Horton during the week prior to attending. We would love to help you prepare to come and worship with us on Sunday! Our office number is 803-736-0624.

Wednesday Nights

Children in action

Children love to share God’s love, and, children love to learn by doing. Through mission discipleship, children learn to share His love in multiple ways, from collecting school supplies for back-to-school backpacks to passing out care packages they made to the homeless, from visiting the nursing home or to even sharing a smile or a prayer with someone who needs it. We teach children about missions by helping them:

  • learn about missions,

  • pray for missions,

  • give to missions,

  • do missions, and

  • participate in the work of the church.

Mission Friends

Preschool is an exciting time in children’s lives, where they rapidly grow to understand the world around them. It’s during this time that they develop a spiritual understanding of Who God is and how they play a part in His plan for the world. Mission Friends meets during our MidWeek time to provide the building blocks of faith to preschoolers and raise basic awareness of God’s love for all people.

New Christian Class

This class is offered throughout the year to children desiring baptism and church membership. Topics include Baptism, the Lord's Supper, What is Church, and How to Grow as a Christian.
